This live workshop will be a thorough 3-hour deep dive (including Q&A) to help you crack the code of chronically painful lower backs.
Hint: it's rarely just a case of changing your technique on a few exercises or training your core muscles more. Yes, we'll myth-bust the bio-mechanical aspects such as breathing, bracing and when not to...
But we'll also zoom out and look at the often neglected psycho-social aspects of pain. Your relationship with the world, and with yourself. Helping you see your broader context will help you stop unconsciously creating the circumstances that stress, deplete and inflame your back (the pain is a messenger).
The theme will be returning to yourself and the sensation of your body. Again, again, again, until your body-sense is where you live from, joyfully and creatively… rather than where pain forces you to return to.
On the menu for discussion are things like suppressed rage, people-pleasing tendencies, dissatisfying workplace or relationship dynamics, disordered eating or poor digestion, high cortisol and the links between chronic pain and immune suppression. All these aspects play a role in causing flare-ups and sustaining a self-fulfilling ecosystem of pain, that we can begin to heal.
