Fear of Future
I think you’re less afraid of the future
and more afraid of how you’ll react to it.
I think you’re less afraid that you won’t love the future
and more afraid that one way or another, you’ll become unloveable.
Does this resonate?
Do you ever struggle to deal with how unpredictable life is?
Do you feel powerless when you ask “What is going to happen a year, or five, from now?”
I understand. It is unpredictable, we can’t shut the future out. We have to let it in, skilfully.
The key seems not to be in trying to find answers. Life is the answer. It’s here, happening.
We certainly can’t control all of it, so we have to find ways to understand our place in it.
So, paradoxically, the best answer may be to ask progressively better questions.
Here are a few that you may find relatable:
“How can I better understand my reactions?”
“How can I maintain a level of discipline and power over my actions?”
“How can I become someone who never has to worry about being without love?”
“Am I afraid of the unpredictable — or that my catastrophic predictions will come true?”
What questions do you ask yourself often?
Are these helpful questions, or do they induce fearful loops?
What better questions could you ask, given the unpredictability of life?
If things get overwhelming, remember that much of the struggle is created within your mind.
